Last night caught the weather guessers off guard. Storms started on the Mogollon Rim and slid down the mountains and built big in a hurry. 60K folks without electricity this morning. 50-75 Knot winds reported through the valley.

Priest and Sabbath?

The lightning and wind were angels moshing.

The rain was the sweat that poured from their brows after such a mosh.

POLITICIANS & DIAPERS NEED TO BE CHANGED OFTEN AND FOR THE SAME REASON

A person properly schooled in right and wrong is safe with any weapon. A person with no idea of good and evil is unsafe with a knitting needle, or the cap from a ballpoint pen.

I saw a report a little earlier today that they're evacuating the offshore rigs. So he might be a wee bit busy right now.

I assumed he would be hammered, just didn't know if he had caught up with us yet or what. I remember that the last time this happened, he provided a lot of insight into what was happening , and what could happen.

I'm here; at home, that is. I've been very busy with our rec soccer registration stuff these last 3-4 days; I'm the board president. :?

This one falls on my offhitch. The other guys get to tie everything down and evacuate. I really hope they do a good job of shutting everything down correctly.
I'll have the fun & games of going back out to bring the TLP online later next week. And yes Randy, at that point things will get extremely busy for a while.
Meanwhile, the wife and I are prepping La Casa del Termite. We are far enough inland(Alexandria/Pineville area, about 5 miles from PawPaw) that I'm thinking about not plywooding the windows, due to the new insulated siding we installed last Oct. I think that if Gustav hits as a Cat III on the coast, it will be a Cat I or TS by the time it gets here. Lilly went right over us, and all I lost was 1-2 roof shingles.
I've filled up all my gas containers(w/STABIL addded), test run both generators, topped off all vehicles, charged up my deep cycle batteries and power portapacs, and filled my extra propane tank. I'll fill up 2 food grade 55 gal drums with water Monday. I also have a 4" inflatable test plug in case I need to isolate the house from the sewer system. The yard is mowed, weedeated, and raked. I and the wife will spend today making sure loose items are picked up/ tied down.
I'll be using two wheels to run various errands, unless I have to carry really large items.

Drinking water and batteries(esp D cells) are disappearing at an incredible rate here. I don't use that many D cells, other than the two Maglights, so I'm good there. I've gone to AAs and CR123s mostly, in LED lights.

Generator sales are thru the roof. I WISH I had a truck load of 3-5kw gens I could sell. I would service and test run them whenever I sold one, all sales final, no returns. The only problem with generators is that most people don't really know how to use them efficiently, or safely. Oh well; Darwin awards and all that......

I'll stay in touch.
