Combat Brigade Ready for US Operations

While I don't see black helicopters..yet. It does give one cause to wonder. What mischief could The Dear Leader put these troops up to in time..

Posse Comitataus or not, under the John Warner Defense Authorization Act, signed by President Bush on October 17, 2006, the law was changed to state, “The President may employ the armed forces to restore public order in any State of the United States the President determines hinders the execution of laws or deprives people of a right, privilege, immunity, or protection named in the Constitution and secured by law or opposes or obstructs the execution of the laws of the United States or impedes the course of justice under those laws.”

The Army Times reports this new mission marks the first time an active unit has been given a dedicated assignment to Northern Command. The paper says the Army unit may be called upon to help with civil unrest and crowd control. The soldiers are learning to use so-called nonlethal weapons designed to subdue unruly or dangerous individuals and crowds.

I don't really understand the point of this, unless it's not possible under the NG system for the NG of one state to enter another...

The linked story has a little different twist:
That changed last week with the Army announcing full combat brigade will be on alert for the next year, ready to roll out nationwide.

Despite conspiracy theories that this could be a first step toward martial law in the U.S., there won't be tanks on Main Street or active-duty troops putting down demonstrations. That is barred by federal law banning the military from being used on U.S. soil for domestic law enforcement.

Instead, the Soldiers of the 1st Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, Ga., have been training to back up civilian authorities in providing medical care and dealing with chemical, biologic, high explosive or nuclear attack.
POLITICIANS & DIAPERS NEED TO BE CHANGED OFTEN AND FOR THE SAME REASON

A person properly schooled in right and wrong is safe with any weapon. A person with no idea of good and evil is unsafe with a knitting needle, or the cap from a ballpoint pen.

I remain pessimistic given the way BATF and the anti gun crowd have become tape worms in the guts of the Republic. - toad

OK, so it's for another Katrina/etc where the state gov is either unwilling, or unable, to request assistance from other states... for now... still don't trust it completely, but at this point, I don't trust ~90% of what DC wants to do...

also, when the state government allows the state NG to go overboard, another state's NG can legally come in and control the situation... for example when the confiscations of guns started in NO
