Teaching physical education, in various ways, is essential. ESPECIALLY, at the younger ages - but not the way its done, usually.

Dance, balancing, climbing, etc are all things which can carry a lifetime benefit to the person, especially if emphasized as a youth - its about teaching the child how to move well, and how to balance out structural imbalances which develop from their lifestyle.

Games are also good - but FAR too many people forget that its just a game, being played by children, and devoid of all significance, beyond educational. Games can develop character, and encourage conditioning, and development - but that needs to be the focus of it... And, frankly, the much larger children should probably be separated from playing with the much smaller, regardless of age.

you have many good points that I was not articulating. My goal is not to PE for punishment, but to encourage leaving the screen behind, making motion a fluid thing for your life and as a means of learning other life lessons. Some of those are gravity, teamwork, concentrated effort, that skills grow with practice, many things are super tough when you start but improve with repeated effort...
