The Right to Bear Nukes

Post by D5CAV »

California is at it again, with 2020 Presidential hopeful Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA). He wants to "ban assault weapons, buy them back, go after resisters"

He seems to think that the Second Amendment was written to protect the right to own muskets, but that the Founding Fathers couldn’t have anticipated the alleged horrors wrought by private ownership of assault weapons.
For those who believe that "resisters" with 2A items can oppose us.gov, Swalwell points out that us.gov has nukes.
Strangely, though, he finds hidden somewhere deep within the US Constitution the right for the government to own nuclear weapons in order to terrorize the public into obedience.
Swalwell is correct that the founding fathers didn't foresee assault weapons, however:
This clearly isn’t the 18th century anymore. But if the Founding Fathers truly intended the Second Amendment as a deterrent against government tyranny, private citizens should at least have equivalent firepower.
Since the NRA threw FA under the bus, I doubt they would take up this cause.
So it’s time for either politicians to shut up about taking guns from private citizens or it’s time for private citizens to start making noise about a constitutional right to own nukes.
So I'm working on my phased plasma rifle in the 40 watt range, which is not regulated by BATFE.

Of course, like most politicians, Eric Swalwell suffers from an acute failure of imagination. An old fire truck pumper, gasoline and some road flares are also not regulated.

Someone needs to suggest to Joerg that he needs to get his imagination working on designing a road flare launcher: http://www.slingshotchannel.com/
