Missing the forum function buttons...

Post by Denis »

I've noticed that, when accessing the Forum from home, I can't see the "function" buttons (reply, report, quote, new post, etc...), with the result that I can't post anything :-( I'm viewing the Forum on Ubuntu Linux, using Firefox 3.

Other than whitelisting the entire site in Adblock (which didn't help), I'm at a bit of a loss...

Any suggestions?

Are you sure you are logged in?
There is a certain type of mentality that thinks if you make certain inanimate objects illegal their criminal misuse will disappear!

That and making sure scripts are running for the site.

Yes, I was logged in :-) I have Javascript enabled in Firefox, but not Java. I trust the latter's not necessary...

Will experiment more at home.

I'll give it a try, but no doubt Murphy will be at work, and I'll need to click a missing button to get at them too... the second, silvery, alternative is rather nice.

Have you cleared your cache? Deleted your Temp files? When was the last time your FF was updated?

All, thanks for the help! Problem solved.

After rooting around in Firefox, I eventually noticed that both the Adblock and AdblockPlus extensions were installed. I had whitelisted theguncounter.com in Adblock, but AdblockPlus was still blocking images from the site, because it globally blocks sites whose names include the string *counter*. Aha.

Since it's not immediately obvious how to white-list a site in AdblockPlus, I've disabled that extension until I figure out how. I don't know why both blocker extensions were installed, anyway... Adblock alone does just fine.

All the buttons are now as they should be! Hurra!
