Are wild hogs any good for bacon?Recent data shows Europe's pig population declining at an alarming rate "and this is a trend that is being mirrored around the world," the NPA said in a release. Every major pork-producing European nation has fewer pigs today than they did last year, even as demand for pork products has remained high.

Bacon (very lean), and prosciutto, and roasts and fillets and BBQ and salami and, and... delicious!Jericho941 wrote:Are wild hogs any good for bacon?

Seems more about European shortages, maybe it's about the Muslims demanding less "unclean" food.

There must be an end to this intimidation by those who come to this great country, but reject its culture.

This article (note the path to the webpage) mentions Canadian closures being the root of the problem.skb12172 wrote:My thought as well.Rod wrote:Seems more about European shortages, maybe it's about the Muslims demanding less "unclean" food.
Pig farmers in Poland, Denmark and Lower Saxony will be rubbing their hands with glee... I better go and shoot a few boar, just to be on the safe side.

Did Canada get a pork cartel or something? They have an egg cartel and a milk cartel.

Doubt it, at least not yet. Others have already stated the real cause of the shortage.skb12172 wrote:My thought as well.Rod wrote:Seems more about European shortages, maybe it's about the Muslims demanding less "unclean" food.
Though I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the usual suspects try to capitalize on the situation and try to give the industry a blow. Not just M's, but there's lots of militant animal rights nutcases and vegans that are probably already planning how to make the most of it.
