That was the most non-following post that "Does Not Follow" has seen in some time. Bravo.

I saw a review of sight touch up paint. The guy said it help for his "vintage eyesight." I can relate.

I just scored a core engine to rebuild for my Jeep off Craigslist. The dude only wanted $50 for the engine and ALL of the accessories, intake, exhaust, and radiator. All he wanted off it was the flywheel and the engine mounts. I handed him a hundred bucks given that the cylinder head alone is worth 3 or 4 times that, and several of the other parts are easily worth it too. He didn't seem to give a shit about the value of what he had, and was just happy it was going to get used. I still feel like I stole something.

Turns out, he wants to convert his Jeep to electric power. Which on the one hand, would be some great smooth power for off-roading, but he'll basically be building a short range rig that can either only be used locally, or has to be trailered to and from the trailhead. Most serious off-roading, the fuel you are carrying is what you've got, and forget about recharging a battery bank.

Yachting.

Was browsing the website of the company who made my sail. They have a jib sail for a larger boat I like, by the same designer as mine, marked down on clearance to just $100. I am pretty sure it's a trap....

Is anything going on I don't know about?

Saw a couple of military vehicles being transported eastbound on I64 in St Louis County this evening, including a Stryker.

Not that I've heard of. Did they have UN Markings? ;)

Could be a Guard unit transporting vehicles to/from an Annual Training site.

Could be new vehicles en-route to their unit

Could be shuffling of surplus vehicles between units.

You spend enough time on Interstates in the South and Midwest you'll see similar. Only thing I've never seen driving/being transported on Interstates are tanks. Those I saw on flat cars on a rail line (M-60's, so yeah, it's been a few years).

Some recent stupidity on FB has me trying really hard not to post the following:

If I sometimes seem a trifle argumentative it's because I'm trying to wake some of you the fuck up, BEFORE the helicopter rides have to start.

Because I still care.

For now.

Happens all the time. The Reserves and NG do their thing so you see them convoying around St.Louis and I think there is a depot level repair place out towards KC or whatever because you see them hauling all kinds of vics that way and back at times.

It’s for this and similar other reasons that I dumped FB at the end of June. Yes, it was the easiest way to get pics of our kiddos’ adventures out to family, but my interactions devolved mostly into seeing really dumb shit get posted, and then having to force myself to NOT say something. Because yelling at stupid people doesn’t raise their IQ, and arguing with smart people on FB is pretty much the worst way imaginable to actually convince them of anything other than their own moral superiority.

My kids have finally figured this out. My wife's extended family are mindless, kool-aid-drinking zombies. The kids tried to discuss with them for a while, but they were met with talking points or "I don't believe that verifiable fact you just posted" type responses. Now, they just have fun trolling while acting all innocent. I guess you get your fun where you can.
