Seagate Barracuda Hard Drives.

Post by Rich »

Evidently there is a problem with the flash upgrade of the Seagate Barracuda HDD, and a bunch of customers are complaining. Seagate's forum is Here.

As per Jerry Pournelle's Chaos Manor day book, if you have the opportunity to upgrade, don't.

<edit> I am currently running a Maxtor (made by Seagate) 500GB primary and a Seagate 500GB secondary in a non-RAID configuration, so this caught my interest. </edit>

This is kinda surprising. Seagate has the reputation of being the best consumer harddrives in the business. Their 5 year warranty makes WD's 3 year look kinda sad.
