Question about Intel Processors

Post by Wrenchbender1 »

If a motherboard is a Socket 775, Is it compatible with all 775 processors? The tech support guy that I ordered it from said yes but I'm on my second motherboard with the same problem (no signal to the monitor) and am starting to wonder if he knew what he was talking about.

Here's the motherboard and cpu that I have now.

ASSUMING proper BIOS.

No video does not necessarily mean processor problem - is it on-board? If not, is your vid card bad or some bios setting missed?

The first motherboard had on-board video. I switched between the video card and that with no change. The motherboard might have been shot to begin with since I found one of those small rectangular (Resistor maybe?) pieces rattling around in the bottom of the box. The second motherboard didn't have on-board video. I tried removing everything one piece at a time (Sound card, ram, extra drives) with no change except for the intermittent beeping when I removed the last piece of ram.

Edit: I can't get to bios with either motherboard DD.

If I recall correctly, the beeping with all the ram removed means that there's enough processor running to direct the beeps.

Customer reviews from Tiger for this mobo are a little shakey, and show the quality really isn't that great, which may have been the reason it became a recert. You may have to try a third mobo.

And yes, almost all 775 sockets will accept almost all 775 processors, and Intel specs out their products pretty tightly.
