Linus Torvalds is stepping away from the linux foundation, with a statement that is very much not like him

3 years earlier, an article mentioning attempted framing for sexual harassment..


Makes one wonder..

So it appears Torvalds was an adherent of the 'Pence Policy' even back in '15 (or earlier), due to multiple attempted setups. My dad tried to impress this on me back in high school two-dozen-odd years ago, but didn't really elaborate... it makes more and more sense now. The point about never being alone either is interesting, since it means you ALWAYS have witnesses (PLURAL) to your NOT being a creep. I can imagine, given what I've read of his personality, that this is a 'I'd better step away before I just throat-punch one of these assholes' hiatus, rather than him needing to 'work on his behavior'.

Not only must we live above reproach, but we must do so in a manner such that there is no possible angle from which our actions could even begin to appear untoward. That's a pretty tall order.

Linus is an asshole of epic proportions, which is no secret, which is why his statement is so unlike him - i think they got to him, and somebody wrote that for him, and told him to sign it or face a lawsuit.

Anyone read that recent post of Kim's? Talking about how CEOs and execs have changed their behavior and cut their socialising with employees because of all this metoo? And how they are saying they now prefer not to hire women?

The real killer was the bit about Amazon dumping their new super duper computerized employee finder program.... because it was showing a clear preference for hiring men instead of women.

My dad practiced the Pence policy and passed it on to me. Saved his bacon in the 60's and 70's as the #1 guy in a hospital full of female staff.

Probably saved my bacon too since.

What saved my bacon was hiring my mom to work with me. Unless one of us was in the bathroom, we were literally within 10 feet of one another during the entire workday, including lunch. When I faced not one, but two false accusations, it was pretty amusing to see all the reactions, since I would've had to commit my atrocities literally within arms length of dear 'ol mommy. When I mentioned the possibility of my own lawsuit, you could've powered a small city with the kinetic energy from HR backpedaling. By the way, the company ended up going out of business less than six months later. When it happened, I had voluntarily left three months earlier for a better situation. I heard the news and clapped my hands and giggled like a little bitch.
