Does anyone use Explorer for anything besides downloading Chrome, Firefox or such?

Oh, wait, I do, it's the standard browser to use for connecting to the client site. That's also ALL I use it for.

I wonder what browser low information voters use? Wait, pretty sure I know already....

It's pretty much the standard for my work systems as that is what comes loaded on the PCs.

Fortunately our IT guys tend to ignore the Firefox and Chrome installations that just appear.

On a side note, I've been dual booting for a number of years. This year I finally wiped the HD and got rid of Windows entirely. Now if only my bank would relent and allow a wider choice of browsers, I could go back to Opera or go to Chrome. I might try Iceweasel, Mozilla's other browser. :?

Odd. I've been doing all my online banking with Chrome on Linux for years.

Why did Verizon update my phone right after my contract expired? Because the next day my reception was degraded to point where it was worthless at my rural location. A previously admitted "known problem zone" most likely had nothing to do with it......ya,no.

I was amused that, while getting training in Microsoft Dynamics CRM in early 2014, the trainers admitted it worked better with Firefox than with IE. Mozilla cheesed me off, so I mostly use Opera now (Firefox for certain things, such as the Kindle Reader App).

Why would a windows update have anything to do with your email settings?

Well MS *is* doing something interesting with Windows.

In a limited way, they're making it free.

It seems they're really serious about platform consolidation, and trying to monetize Windows and the whole surrounding ecosystem in ways other than charging for the OS (as a side benefit that's the only way they're going to make money off of pirates).

I have one personal Windows 7 license. Used for a full install on the second hd in my desktop, for dual booting. (I also generally have at least one Windows 7 vm available.) Looking forward to 10.

Its just the newest phase in their long time strategy of "Embrace, extend, and extinguish", also known as "Embrace, extend, and exterminate". They took some hits the last few years but still have a beachhead that makes it very easy for them to try the same thing that worked so well for them before.
