I checked the map and am glad to see how far inland Cleveland is. Keep in touch.....

Good to hear your in the clear. The 'Rents are headed to Boyce for the duration. They were saying that reports went from TS to CAT4 with mandatory evacuation in about 1 hour.

From what I've heard from LEOs back there, this one is being handled quite different. A 311 line has been set up that will get a transport to you to pick you and your pets up and take you to an evac area. Buses and trains are being utilized. I've also been told that if you elect to stay, you can do so, as long as you're on your own property. Last minutes rescues will not happen. Get out, or be dug in well enough to survive on your own is the word of the day. Contraflow, AFAIK, started at 0400.

As much as I'm amazed to hear, it would seem that lessons learned really were lessons learned.

+1 When I read Cleveland however, I missed the "Ms" first time, and being in Ohio thought

1. Damn, made good time there

2. I think that should be far enough inland. :)

3. Pissed that he drove right by me (so to speak) and didn't think to stop and have a cold one with grilled animal flesh en route. 8-)

Heh. As it was, the folks here looked ready to burn me at the stake when I told them when I left. They'd only heard the reports of the folks stuck on the interstate, who were taking 8 hours to get to Baton Rouge. Only real hold-up was where some moron wedged a tractor-trailer across River Road somewhere in St. Tammany parish. Wish I'd thought to take a pic of that. Other than that, I was usually going about 10 over the speed limit. Not to mention doing 55-70 on River Road. In a full-size pickup. At night. (You may be a redneck if...)
