Kevin Baker, Great News

Post by Rumpshot »

I visited Kevin at the Mayo Hospital, Phoenix, last week. Very short visit, he was on his way out for a Heart Stress Test.

As you may or may not know, Kevin had Cirrhosis of the Liver. He was hoping to get on the list for a liver transplant.

I stopped by today to check on him. He got a transplant on Sunday evening. He was in ICU, but getting ready to move out of ICU for longer-term care. He was on 24-hour dialysis, but they had stopped that earlier today. He will need dialysis on a period basis for an indeterminate period of time.

Last week he looked like last months leftovers. Today he looked like Kevin!

As it turned out, he remembered I planned to come by on Wednesdays when I have my Chemo treatments. He was most excited to see me as he is not yet really internet capable. And of course, we had not exchanged phone numbers since the 2006 NoR shoot.

Kevin will be at Mayo for some time. If you are in the area, stop by and say hello. Mayo Hospital is just off the 101 Loop and 56th Street in far northeast Phoenix. He would love some company, even a very brief visit.
