Wifes that are smarter than their husbands

Post by toad »

Well considering how many IQ points that I've dropped and how low my income is , any woman that I marry will either be dumb as a bag of door knobs , or much smarter than me...and probably a masochist ?

I'm wondering how many here have married a woman smarter than they are ? :?:

My wife and I are both pretty smart, but we'll each be the first to tell you we're not *that* smart.

We both went to the Most expensive Institute of Technology (figure it out). She graduated, I didn't. I work in IT, she was an Aerospace Engineer.

We think differently. I'm a systemic thinker who sometimes makes big leaps and then has to work to fill them in. Also a mild ADD case who self-medicates.

She's more detail oriented and very methodical and persistent.

We each see quite clearly things the other person is better at, and we each say the other one is smarter.

Any smart man will marry a smarter woman. Otherwise ..... where's the challenge? Duh!

Smart man + smart woman = romance

Smart man + dumb woman = affair

Dumb man + smart woman = marriage

Dumb man + dumb woman = pregnancy

I'm not that bad. 8-)

But I once worked for a guy.... Great guy, very smart, I enjoyed working for him- but he was a terrible ADD case. One time at the end of the day he was getting ready to go home, he put his coat on... but he was really worried. He explained "I bought a couple of chocolate bars today but I can't find them, and I really hope they're not on me because I don't want them to melt and make a mess."

My wife is smarter in social issues - go figure in a sociology and anthropology major. I'm smarter mechanically and in the guy stuff. We complement each other.

If my wife were that smart she's NEVER have married the likes of me......

Seriously though, my wife is smarter than she gives herself credit for. Like Weetabix said above, we each have our talents and we complement each other well, we're good together.

I've mentioned before that I knew a couple back when who were members of Mensa, and I went to a few of their gatherings as their guest. Never joined although my IQ is plenty high enough to have done so. The women in Mensa are....odd (so are the men for that matter). Not sure if it's because of the high IQs, or just that Mensans are weird. Although single guys, if you have the IQ for it and want to get laid, join Mensa. These are people for whom their personality is effective birth control, so the women tend to be....direct (as in grab your hand as you walk by and inform you that you're spending the night with them, then asking what your name is).

This is an interesting question. Most of the couples I know who work out well are both of similar intelligence but in complimentary ways. Like a wheeler dealer salesman guy and an accountant wife (I actually know a few couples like that). My parents are both very intelligent and also very disorganized / poor administrator types and their marriage was a disaster.

In flat out IQ measurable IQ, I am probably higher than my wife. Although she is quite smart (she started as a Computer Science major and only switched because she could get a business degree faster) and much more so than she gives herself credit for. Most importantly, she is a very able administrator - thank God, I hate that crap and suck at it. She is also not a good abstract thinker but very good at detail work in terms of thinking, which is more or less the opposite of me. So we complement each other in those ways.
